is a net culture institution. it was established in 1994 and offers the arts and culture scene a platform for the self-determined us of new media. creates both real and virtual enviroments for the realisation of electronically networked art.

investigates the reciprocal effects of art and technology, of science and politics and therby raises awareness of the effects of new technologies on our culture and society.

promotes innovation in art and culture and offers assistance in the realization of projects.

is embedded into an international network of art, culture, media and science and promotes interdisciplinary exchanges of ideas, experiences and innovations.

organizes exhibits, events, symposiums, and workshops that provide a broad public with understanding of the new communication media and their various possibilities, and cast a critical light on a society shaped by technology.

Since its start in 1995 public netbase has served a large audience: there have been more than 1500 million homepage hits, 100,000 event visitors and 2,500 reports in the international media.
